At Advocates for Animal & Land Interests (AFALI), our mission is to help protect land ownership rights, support responsible livestock and companion animal practices, and ensure fair policies to safeguard these interests, primarily within the state of Oregon. We are committed to:

  1. Advocating for Animal Ownership Rights
We fight for the rights of individuals to breed, own, and care for animals, including both companions and livestock.
  2. Defending Land Use Rights
AFALI works to help defend the land use rights of property owners, homesteaders, ranchers, and farmers. We understand the importance of land in supporting sustainable livelihoods to be passed down to the next generations.
  3. Monitoring Legislation and Regulations
We actively monitor legislative and regulatory actions that could impact agricultural, rural, and animal-related interests in Oregon.
  4. Educating the Public
We focus on educating the public about laws and policies impact animal and land stewardship. Knowledge is power, and we aim to empower Oregonians to make informed decisions.

How We Got Started

Advocates for Animal & Land Interests (AFALI) was born out of a simple but urgent realization: important legislative changes were happening in the State of Oregon, and the people most affected—animal owners, small-scale farmers, and property owners—weren’t being informed. Policies that could impact our ability to breed, own, and care for animals or use our land responsibly are being proposed and passed with little public awareness.

We saw a gap. While other advocacy groups exist, the need for clear, timely, and accessible information remained. Too often, legislation with far-reaching consequences has slipped through unnoticed in Oregon, until it was too late to take action. We aim to change that dynamic.

As a grassroots nonprofit, we are committed to bridging this information gap, ensuring that landowners and responsible animal stewards a voice in shaping fair policies. We believe that when communities are informed and engaged, they can make a real difference in protecting their rights and interests.

AFALI was founded on the principle that there are never too many advocates when it comes to preserving our freedoms. By working alongside existing organizations, tracking legislative developments, and empowering individuals with knowledge and resources, we strive to strengthen the collective effort to safeguard land use and animal ownership rights in Oregon and beyond.

Our journey is just starting out with a small group of dedicated individuals who see the need for a stronger, more connected advocacy network and share a passion for protecting responsible animal practices and land rights.
